Academy Award Animated Short Film Nominees

by chris cunningham

We had a nice thing at work this week. The Oscar nominees for the animated short film were screened and all the filmmakers were there to talk about each one and answer questions. Then we had lunch after and got to chat with them more personally. The one I really loved, Madame Tutli-Putli, didn’t win the award but Peter & the Wolf was very nice. Director Suzie Templeton and Producer Hugh Welchman of Peter & the Wolf were there and picked up their Oscars just 5 days later. I Met the Walrus was a funny story of 14 year old Jerry Levitan who snuck into John Lennon’s hotel room and interviewed him. Years later Josh Rakin edited down the interview and made a fascinating animated film with it. All good entries this year.
