I love living in Los Angeles. It’s endlessly fascinating to me. Even after living here my whole life. The Immigrant March came and went without any troubles. A lot of shops in my neighborhood were closed for the day, but all in all it wasn’t too disruptive. The commute into work was actually easy. A lot of people actually snickered at the drive because it was so easy to get into work. Usually at the corner of 6th and Fairfax there’s a line of about 50 cars backed up to turn left. Today, none. I’ll never see that again. The drive home was another story. Grid locked. Even on the residential streets. I got my car parked and then walked out to Wilshire to check out the crowd. It was pretty big but it was really hard to tell how big it was at ground level. The estimate is 400,000. I weaved through the crowd but it was so tight and nobody was really moving because they were all listening to the speeches. At the very least today had to be very empowering for the latino community. I was never able to get down the east side of Wilshire, but on the way home I was able to walk down the middle of Wilshire for about 5 blocks since there were no cars driving on it! It was pretty hard to shoot the video because of the close quarters but I at least captured a snippet of what it was like at ground level.<\/p>\n
