Zathura, out on DVD Tuesday. And the DVD poster is soooo much better than the theatrical poster. It only made 28 mil. at the box office. At about 9 bucks a ticket these days that was about 3 million people that went to see a movie about a house in outer space. Not so good. Now… judging by the posters above which movie would you have wanted to see? The one with the cool retro robot with a buzzsaw, an astronaut, some rocketships, a lizard creature, AND a cute girl? Or the one with the giant house flying around? I mean, come on, how do you market a house to kids? Oh well. The movie’s cool though, especially if it had come out somewhere between The Dark Crystal, Weird Science, Gremlins, The Rocketeer, Young Sherlock Holmes, E.T. or The Goonies. But no, it came out about 20 years later. It was fun to work on even as a dud in the box office but it will do well on DVD.
