Jett Jackson’s Studio

by chris cunningham

I went and visited Jett at her studio today. She has an awesome space at the Santa Fe Art colony. Click the picture to get a huge pic and scroll along to view the panorama. The great thing about Jett is she’s fairly prolific so everytime I see her I get to see a bunch of new canvases she’s been working on. I really love her work and everyday I get to look at one of my favorite paintings ever because I own it. Because it’s on my wall I’m fairly attuned to it’s details and every little brush stroke. I’ve previously posted pics of the paintings of hers that I own, but here they all are with their frames. In the order that I bought them.

So here’s a odd thing. My favorite painting has a real life doppelganger! Not the evil twin kind, just the “hey, it looks like her” kind. She walks the planet! So I’m just clicking around looking at random photos from people. You know how the web is… click here, click there, click click click… After searching for a definition of a word from this girls’ photo gallery I end up at her regular website. So I’m looking at her photos and I click through to one that kinda freaks me out for a second. In the photo she looks like the girl from my painting Random Muse-ings!

Similar eyebrows, the hair colors and the highlites and streaks in them, the highlites in their eyes, the drinks on the left hand side, and both wearing pearls. And the pose. On top of all that she has a bunch of photos of her with large head pieces, again not unlike the painting. So anyway, I thought it was pretty cool to find a photo of girl that looks like my painting.

So maybe I’ll run into a giant heart headed girl at an art gallery, or a smoking cat woman running around the streets of Los Angeles.
