Santa Monica Pier

Now that I feel up to it… Headed down to Santa Monica this afternoon and went to a big sorta photo gallery trade show something or other. I’m not sure what it was but there were a ton of galleries on hand showing the work of the artists they represent. So that was quite good and there was a lot of work that I actually liked. The costs of some of these photographs I thought was pretty high. Not that they can’t command it, but you can buy paintings for some of the same prices and they’re originals not a series of prints. The most expensive print there… an Imogen Cunningham for $36,0000. Wow. Please be a long lost great great aunt or something. I think the print was from the 40’s.

Ran into Blaine from work, who said, “I was going to call you..!” But, ya see, he didn’t. So I gave him the sarcastic face, with an “uh huh, yeah.” Next weekend is Art L.A. which I’m going to try and hit on lunch Friday.

Afterwards I walked down to the beach to check out the “Arlington West” display. It’s a set of crosses and caskets that have been set up each weekend by the pier. One for each soldier who has died in Iraq. Needless to say it’s getting quite big. Then walked down to the water and wandered around the pilings for a bit. Got tired, along with having a lingering cough, so came home for the rest of the night.
