chase the light

Yes another Eiffel Tower photo. Hopped the double decker open topped tour bus today to just travel around city and get the commentary. All good and it was nice and warm when the sun would come out. In fact I kept head bobbing and sleeping as we drove around Paris. Ha! Pretty funny. Hey, who’s that guy up there sleeping on the bus!?

After doing about 3 different lines on the tour, green, yellow, and orange, we finally ended up at the Eiffel Tower and got to go up in it. Got in line and and it was about an hour wait and then rode up to the second floor and waited in another line. While we were waiting in that line the sun was setting and a rainbow came out. Nice. We got on the elevator to the top at about 9:45 and it was beautiful up there. Dark clouds overhead and some lights of the city were just starting to come on. At 10pm the Tower started doing it’s sparkly thing although you don’t really get the full sense of it when you’re on it. Spent another 10 minutes up there until the sparkly lights went out and then headed down. For some reason we missed getting off at the first floor and had I had to ask what we had to do to see the first floor. They put us back on the elevator and we were able to go back up to the first floor so Jill could mail some postcards from the Eiffel Tower. They stamp the postcards with little Eiffel Towers. Didn’t happen though as the post office closed at 7p. Oh well.

After we got off of the Tower we walked down the Champ de Mars to watch the sparkle lights go off at 11pm. Barely made it but it was great to see again from below. I have video. Not sure when that will appear, but there you go. Last night in Paris. Tomorrow is going to be an early departure for Berlin. As we have an all day trip from Paris to Brussels, Belgium, over to Cologne, Germany and then on into Berlin.
