It’s Over! …and Ghost Rider Trailers Are Out in HiDef!

Well it’s over. [Ghost Rider] wrapped for me today and now it’s holiday time. It’s going to seem like a distant memory when this comes out next February but it’ll be cool to see it after so long because I’ll have forgotten most of it. The [HD trailers] were released on Apple’s website this week […]

Nicolas Cage Visits the Ghost Rider Crew

Nicolas Cage stopped by today to say hello to the Ghost Rider crew. He was filming in the area today and so swung by afterwards and watched a few sequences of the movie with us. His wife was with him and he talked a bit about loving what we were doing with the effects. Then […]

Ghost Rider Cinco de Mayo! (Curse the French!)

[CINCO DE MAYO GALLERY] Although celebrated much more as an excuse to have a party than anything else, Cinco de Mayo really is just a way to celebrate the great American pastime of cursing the French! Official disclaimer: I really like the French, I will be visiting your country next month so please have your […]

Friday Bike Ride

On the occasional Friday Bau from the office next to me and I leave work at lunch to ride our bikes down to the beach. It’s 12.65 miles according to the little bike computer. Well, this Friday my back tire was way low and the wind was blowing hard down Ballona Creek so it was […]

Cheers Buddy.

This weekend one of the guys I had worked with on Polar Express decided it was all too much. So he took his life. I worked with him a lot on the caribou sequence in Polar and man did I ever ask some dumb questions of him over a period of several months. From the […]

Oh Sure, Now They Make the Cool Poster…

Zathura, out on DVD Tuesday. And the DVD poster is soooo much better than the theatrical poster. It only made 28 mil. at the box office. At about 9 bucks a ticket these days that was about 3 million people that went to see a movie about a house in outer space. Not so good. […]

Eighth Annual Imageworks Ski Trip

[SKI TRIP VIDEO LINK] So we left work about 5:15 but the bus’s air conditioner was busted and they forgot our ice coolers! The bus got up to 86 degrees inside. It was miserable and we were sitting in Friday night traffic for two hours. So we stopped in the valley to swap out buses […]

The Exorcism of Emily’s Reasons Why Not

Oh Heather Joan Graham, for months your face has been plastered all over Los Angeles on billboards, buses, and production trucks. You were the queen of hearts for ABC TV. The next moment… well your face is still plastered all over except now you’ve been cancelled and are just the two of clubs. Premiering Jan […]

Ghost Rider Revealed

The first look at Ghost Rider was revealed today. Check him out [LINK]. He looks pretty freakin’ cool even in a compressed quicktime file. Official Site [LINK] and fanboy reaction [LINK] is positive. The release date is February 2007 and lots of work to do. It’s a flaming skeleton on a flaming motorcycle, that’s cool.

Sony Pictures Holiday Party

Just one of the tents full of people at the Sony Holiday Party. Another tent of about the same size had a band and a bunch more tables for gambling. Let’s see the food was catered by Wolfgang Puck’s Catering. Really freakin’ good and they didn’t run out of the pan seared shrimp. Even though […]

Imageworks Halloween

[IMAGEWORKS HALLOWEEN GALLERY] Damn, people done good with the creativity for Halloween. Some great pumpkins were made and some of the costumes were wicked good. The CSI:Pumpkin is awesome, and the motion capture pumpkin is probably only funny to a select few. It’s weird but I didn’t realize until today that I haven’t been home […]

Imageworks Company Picnic

[PICNIC PHOTO GALLERY] After attendance worries and a delay due to death the picnic finally got pulled off. Having been out to Calamigos Ranch for the Disney Company picnics I figured it would be hot, boring, and filled with people I didn’t know. Turns out, it was beautiful out, I had a fun time, and […]

Siggraph 2005

Another year, another bunch of people running around in motion capture suits. Alex was in from Barcelona and I got to hang out with him Friday night and Ben was in from Australia and we hung out Wednesday night. So good to see friends you can’t just call everyday. Imageworks once again had their drawing […]

Urinal Art

During Polar Express a couple white boards were used for something other than mathmatical equations and code. At work, and every other place I’ve been, there tends to be a bathroom problem with guys. The apparatus that allows us to pee standing up can be very unpredictable. For example, lets say you have a squirt […]

How to Lose Only Half Your Money

[Imageworks at Hollywood Park Gallery] Friday night at Hollywood Park with Imageworks. And how to bet like me… Does the horse have an amusing name? —-no—> don’t bet. Yes. Is the horse pretty? —no—> don’t bet. Yes. Have ya got $5? —-no—-> don’t bet. Yes. Bet on horse.

Zathura Balcony Party

Zathura is hurtling towards our completion date so as people started rolling off the project we had a white trash pool party. Malt liquor in bags and pink flamingos by the blow up pool. It was crazy, man.

Play Asteroids… um, er, Zathura!

The last two movies I’ve been on have had little flash games built for them. Polar Express and now Zathura. We screened the film today. I can’t really reveal anything about the movie, but the house that’s in it is beautiful. Such a grown up statement. I wouldn’t have said that 5 years ago. Cinco […]

Mr. Oscar

We won the Academy Award last night for the Visual Effects on Spider-Man 2! A long overdue first for Imageworks. Yes I fondled the little gold men. Heavy little buggers. We had champagne to drink, sandwiches to eat, and balloons to pop. [John Dykstra], [Scott Stokdyk], [Anthony LaMolinara] and [John Frazier] all picked up an […]

Seventh Annual Imageworks Ski Trip

Another trip up to Mammoth for the Imageworks ski trip. After last years solo snowmobiling trip I was able to gather 5 more this year and the trip was outstanding. Visted the caldera and a couple of small craters where we stood on the edge and looked down. It had snowed all week so we […]

IT’S A WRAP!

It’s a wrap! Ha! See what I did there? It’s a wrap, like gifts or presents at Christmas… and the movie wrapped? Anyone, hello? This stuff isn’t easy, ya know. As of half an hour ago, Saturday October 2nd, 10:30pm, I put my last shot on The Polar Express [LINK] to film. Done. A few […]
